On Monday morning, November 9, a man was killed in an accident with a semi truck.
According to authorities, the accident happened at around 4 a.m. on the Interstate 435 to I 70 on the Missouri side. A semi truck overturned near the exit ramp and it is thought that the truck was traveling too fast for the exit when it overturned and slid into the guardrail. The cab of the truck was split into two due to the force of the impact and the 24 year old driver was killed. His identity was not released but police say he was not from the area.
Emergency crews closed the ramp from I-70 WB to I-435 SB closed for several hours and even after it reopened, the road was down to one lane until the truck was removed. The removal took a long time as it was hauling a large load of dog food which had to be moved to another tractor trailer before the damaged truck could be removed.
